Joining a board

Every board is invite-only. There are three kinds of invite, and all of them come from a member of the board.

Invite links

A link looks like sigmachat.org/join/ followed by a code. Opening it shows who invited you and to which board. Sign in, accept, and you are in.

Links can be limited: the creator chooses how long the link lives and how many people can use it, and can revoke it early. If a link shows as invalid, ask for a fresh one.

Pair codes

A pair code is six characters for telling someone in person. Type it at sigmachat.org/join. Pair codes always expire after fifteen minutes.

Named links

Some boards have a permanent named link, like sigmachat.org/join/movie-night. These work the same way and are easier to remember.

Creating invites

Open the board and press the invite button in the header. Anyone in a board can create invites unless that board has restricted it to admins in its permission settings.
